Jesus was pretty calm on the cross don’t you think? “Yes, nothing seemed to bother Him at the face of death.” He was painfully abused, but he did not complain. He was silent like a lamb being led to the butcher, as quiet as a sheep having its wool cut off. He was condemned to death without a fair trial Isa 53:7-8(CEV). How many times have we wept because of injustice done us? He must have prepared very well at the garden. “Yes, imagine when they nailed Jesus to a cross Jesus said, "Father, forgive these people! They don't know what they're doing." While the crowd stood there watching Jesus, the soldiers gambled for his clothes. The leaders insulted him Lk 23:33-35(CEV); insults upset me a lot especially when I am convinced of my innocence.” What of the property loss? His very clothes were taken away, stolen by force if you ask me, yet He remained calm in the face of it all. “He definitely showed the example to follow. Sometimes you were abused and mistreated in public, and at other times you shared in the sufferings of others… And you gladly let your possessions be taken away, because you knew you had something better, something that would last forever Heb 10:33, 34(CEV). We need to recapture joyfully allowing things for Christ’s sake.” He handled separation from His mother quite calmly. Jesus saw his mother and the disciple he loved standing there; so he said to his mother, "He is your son." Jn19:26(GNB). “Does it mean we shouldn’t weep at funerals?” I wouldn’t say so; we can certainly draw inspiration from Him.
There was one thing that made Him cry out anyway: At three o'clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice… "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?" Mk 15:34(GW). “He must have been in intense pain.” Pain yes, but it was beyond crying out for the pain of physical suffering or emotional reaction as to what man was doing to Him. Did you notice that before this by noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon Mk 15:33(GW)? “What are you trying to teach here?” The only thing that can bring darkness to a life, the one thing that should make us cry out is if we are separated from God, if His face is hidden from us. The LORD is not too weak to save or his ear too deaf to hear. But your wrongs have separated you from your God, and your sins have made him hide his face so that he doesn't hear you Is 59:1, 2(GW). Jesus personally bore our sins on the cross: Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross so that freed from our sins, we could live a life that has God's approval.1Pt 2:24(GW). He was separated for a little while that we may never be. What is it that upsets you in life?
