“You’ll just love him. He’s an
apostle of prosperity, a great asset to the church.”
Apostle of what? I’m unfamiliar with that term.
“Ah ah, there are apostles in the
Bible now: special messengers from God to the church in specific areas. Some on
marriage, others on success, deliverance, etc.”
I’m not used to this. I always thought apostles were sent to specific
geographic locations, I mean like Peter is an apostle to the Jews and Paul to
the gentiles. For by God's
power I was made an apostle to the Gentiles, just as Peter was made an apostle
to the Jews. Gal 2:8(GNB)
“Eh now, in addition some are special messengers to bring specific
realities of divine visitation to the church. Anytime a man teaches you get the
sense of his divine apostolate.”
How do you mean? I thought the well trained man of God is equipped to do
any good work? The Scriptures
train God's servants to do all kinds of good deeds. 2Tim 3:17(CEV)
“Oh why don’t you understand me?
Yes any one can try, but in his apostolate he doesn’t stress himself - it just
flows. No need even to fast. Outside his apostolate it is a struggle. Even you
now, I can describe you as an apostle of humility.”
Is that why such a man of God may have a broken marriage but still be
getting results in ministry, in his... “specialty”?
“Exactly.
Exactly. You just got it. So come and meet him, let him anoint you...”
No way! This is thoroughly unbiblical. When God calls someone as an
apostle it is not for a message but as an apostle of Jesus Christ. We are
called to represent Jesus Christ not some teachings. Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ Tit 1:1(KJV)
“So who gave them the message? The
devil? Can’t you see how God operates? There is division of labour and specialisation
in service. That’s biblical.”
Yes, but there is no apostle of a message. An apostle is an apostle of
Jesus Christ, called to represent Him and His lifestyle faithfully in every
ramification to a chosen group. Not some part of the truth and make excuses for
failing in His lifestyle.
“Oh so you don’t think God gives
special revelation of a truth to someone and send him to the church with
unction. I mean like Hagin was an apostle of faith...”
Of course the Holy Spirit opens the eyes of His church to the word
through anointed ministers. No one can dispute that, and I am not. Check the
bible: none in church is called an apostle of a message, or of a revelation.
Anyone called an apostle is an apostle of Jesus Christ and represents Him, not
a part of His truth. To the apostle Jesus is The Revelation to bring, not some
truth about Jesus. He doesn’t fail to live up to the life of Christ because “He didn’t call me as a marriage minister...”
By the way Kenneth Hagin (snr) didn’t refer to himself as an apostle but as a
teacher- a teacher and prophet. Paul... an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of
God's elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness Tit 1:1(NIV)
