Abrahamic worship

You look radiant; you must have enjoyed the service.
Oh yes I did. It was a fine worship: we sang and praised God. I claimed my inheritance and I know it’s gonna come to pass!
It’s like you came to receive from God.
You got it; worship times are excellent avenues to receive from Him.
I agree worship times are excellent times to receive from God but I can tell you it was no worship you gave.
What do you mean? I sang with all my heart; I told God who He is...
Wait, when was the first worship done in the bible?
I don’t know; maybe Adam?
No: Abraham. He told his servants, "Stay here with the donkey, while my son and I go over there to worship. We will come back."  When they reached the place that God had told him about, Abraham built an altar and placed the wood on it. Next, he tied up his son and put him on the wood. He then took the knife and got ready to kill his son. Gen 22:5, 9-10(CEV)
Nothing was as important to Abraham as his son Isaac. He had offered many sacrifices, but only when he came to give God that which meant more than life to him did the bible say he worshipped. "Take your son," God said, "your only son, Isaac, whom you love so much, and go to the land of Moriah. There on a mountain that I will show you, offer him as a sacrifice to me." Gen 22:2(GW).
Well Abraham was a man of faith.
More than that my friend, more than that: What request was Abraham bringing before God in this act of worship? What need was there in his life that made him bring God his only son?
Well I did not see any need in his life.
Exactly! No prayer request, no bargains, no sins to atone for. Can you see why I said you did not worship God?
Are you saying that telling God who He is sincerely is no worship? That praising His name is not worship?
Not if you have an exchange at the back of your mind, not when you are not consciously offering up that which is most dear to you: literally killing your Isaac. No: you merely sang out your heart and offered sacrifices of praise.
I have no son to give o.
I know, but you have your life, everything you are and have must always be laid at God’s altar. So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer. Rom 12:1(GNB)  In the day you worship God truly, like Abraham may you move from God’s promises to His oath. "I am taking an oath on my own name, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not refused to give me your son, your only son…” Gen 22:16(GW).
Amen!
