I can’t believe it; he actually took part in the oath taking ceremony!
Is he not an elder in the church?
“Eh hehn so what? Give to Caesar what belongs to
Caesar and to God what belongs to Him. Did you expect him to lose his job opportunity?
If it were me I would swear too.”
You can’t be serious; you call
yourself a Christian yet you hold such a view. How can a practicing Christian
go before a shrine?
“What is wrong with consulting our traditional institutions? In those
days there was pure religion: Lie to the gods on oath and you pay for it! Should
we throw away our culture simply because the white man brought us his religion?”
It is not a question of promoting our culture but running from demons:
such actions open you up to devils. Things
offered by the Gentiles are offered to evil spirits and not to God; and it is
not my desire for you to have any part with evil spirits. It is not possible
for you, at the same time, to take the cup of the Lord and the cup of evil
spirits; you may not take part in the table of the Lord and the table of evil
spirits. 1Cor 10:20, 21(BBE)
“Look,
we live in a real world. In Rome you have to do as the Romans do. I will go to
church on Sunday, pay tithes and give offerings, but if it takes swearing an
oath to become special assistant- nna I’m on!”
That is Samaritan worship; completely unacceptable to God. They gave worship to
the Lord, but they gave honour to their gods like the nations did from whom
they had been taken as prisoners. So to this day they go on in their old ways,
not worshipping the Lord or keeping his orders 2Ki 17:33, 34(BBE) We would make the Lord jealous if we did that. And we are not
stronger than the Lord1Cor
10:22 (CEV)
“You
and big words; abeg which one is that? Listen: if the traditional stuff can’t solve your
needs the church will, and if the church can’t solve some, tradition will. It
is double protection that I am getting. Or are you one of those who believe
everything traditional is wrong?”
You have a completely wrong understanding of this matter. Those
Samaritans who tried combining God and their idols simply were not worshipping
God at all.
It simply provokes God to anger; while it is true
God made all the languages and people of this earth there is no other way to
Him but Jesus. And
what agreement does a temple of God have
with idols? For you are the temple of the
living God…Therefore come out from among them and be separated, says the Lord,
and do not touch the unclean thing. And
I will receive you 2Cor
